Asder wrote:Stucuk, OpenGL on OW is unstable. Playing in American Campaign i had often crash and sometimes decreases FPS. In multi i had that same problem. I had no problems in Direct Draw.
Created Issue:

The problem is that by the looks of it sometimes its possible for UI Elements (The bit that gives information on units/buildings) not to be initialized before they are drawn.

Note: "Read of address 0000000C" means that your trying to access something that doesn't exist (Anything that has 0000000 at the start means this). So two reports with 0000000C as the read address does not mean its the same error if the Access Violation Address is different.

@Antitheus: The 1.12.10.15 error doesn't trace anywhere specific. The others are the same as Asder.

The Patches released by OWSupport work on all platforms that Original War is released to. Retail, Steam, Good Old Games, everything.

P.S There will be a 2.0.1.0 HotFix released within 24 hours or so. Until then please use the attached OwarOGL.exe .

MrMentor was very helpful. Unfortunately most of the community never bothers to test things until we release a patch. This as a result means that some bugs will always exist as Me and Radzio can not test everything in the game alone (Especially as some bugs can be related to hardware/software).

The OpenGL Renderer is very stable, Issue #91 is the only known rendering bug in 2.0.0.0 that may prevent the game from being playable (I personally never experienced it on my PC). It however has not been optimised so some areas like the "Team Review" screen can be laggy if you have alot of people to pick for your team (Most areas of the game should have acceptable frame rates. OpenGL does however have higher requirements than Direct Draw).

The benefits OpenGL brings is:
  • OpenGL works in any colour mode (No need to force the monitor to 16 bit)
  • Steam Overlay is compatible with OpenGL (But not Direct Draw)
  • Direct Draw is outdated and deprecated (Newer OS's like Windows 8 don't like it)
  • Graphics in Linux through WINE should work right (Since Linux natively uses OpenGL)
  • Single Resolution mode for fullscreen (No more resolution changes)
  • Works on VMware (According to Radzio its meant to be an achievement)
